Scholarships for Master of Applied Science in Humanitarian Health
Eligibility
Two $10,000 scholarships are available for applicants from low- and middle-income countries. To be eligible for the Humanitarian Health Scholarship for the online Master of Applied Science program, applicants must:
· Be a citizen and resident of a low- or middle-income country (LMIC), as defined by the World Bank. Applicants who are temporarily residing in high-income countries may be considered as well, please contact an Admissions Officer for additional information.
· Be able to fluently speak, read, and understand English in order to actively participate in a fast-paced English-only academic program;
· Have completed at least a bachelor’s degree, with a strong record of successful academic performance; and
· Be professionally involved in humanitarian health emergencies/disasters* for over two years, and plan to continue to work in these contexts after completion of the degree.
Prospective applicants from the US and other high-income countries are not eligible for the Humanitarian Health Scholarship for this program, but may apply; all enrolled MAS students will receive the OPAL Scholarship, which is a per-credit amount that will be applied to all required courses throughout the academic program. The Humanitarian Health Scholarship covers $10,000 of the tuition cost, disbursed over the length of the program. There will be two scholarships offered for the 2019-2020 academic year.
MAS Humanitarian Health scholarship applicants must meet the following obligations:
· Submit an application in SOPHAS by May 15, 2020. Applications must be completed and verified in SOPHAS byJuly 1, 2020 to be considered for the scholarship. All completed applications from individuals residing in LMICs received by the deadline will be considered for the scholarship. All international academic records must undergo a course-by-course credential evaluation via World Education Service (WES). Once complete, the evaluation should be sent directly to SOPHAS by WES. · Incomplete applications received after May 15, 2020 will not be considered for this scholarship.
· Applications completed after July 1, 2020 will not be considered for this scholarship.
· Top candidates may be requested to complete an interview (conducted in English) with program faculty.
· To receive the MAS Humanitarian Health Scholarship each term, awardees must receive adequate grades.
Please note that students must meet minimum academic standards, satisfactory academic progress (SAP) and comply with academic ethics standards to remain in their program and to continue receiving the Humanitarian Health and OPAL scholarships. A student’s failure to meet any of the criteria below is grounds for being placed on academic probation and/or being dismissed from the program. To remain in satisfactory academic standing a student must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and earn a grade of “C” or higher in all required courses, or “Pass” for those offered as pass/fail only.
