What makes human language special? How are meaningful representations are encoded into language and shared in the context of human communicative interaction? What are the differences and commonalities with the communication in other species? In this course you will explore the key processes and functions of the human brain, which enable you to use language to communicate and interact with others.

The course is designed for Master / PhD students with a background in psychology, cognitive, language, medical, or natural sciences.

Course aim
After this course you are able to:

  • Understand current theories and questions in the psycho- and neurolinguistics, with a special focus on semantics and pragmatics of human communication and their neural underpinnings.
  • Analyse the neurocognitive and psychological processes that underlie complex behaviour.
  • Evaluate the link between theoretical questions and the way they can be addressed using specific methods and techniques.
