Zuyd University of Applied Sciences Excellence Scholarship Program 2018

Zuyd University of Applied Sciences provides scholarships to talented, highly motivated students who do not hold a European (EU, EEA or Swiss) passport. Zuyd University of Applied Sciences uses its Holland Scholarships and Zuyd Excellence Scholarships to attract excellent students from abroad who have an added value to higher education in the Netherlands and to the international classrooms within the English-taught programmes at Zuyd. Zuyd University of Applied Sciences offers approximately fifty Zuyd Excellence scholarships per year. These scholarships are subject to supply and demand.

Scholarship amount  

The Zuyd Excellence Scholarship amounts to € 3600,- maximum per academic year for the nominal duration of the programme concerned. 

Application criteria

  • You are not a national of the EU/EEA or Switzerland

  • You are applying for a complete full-time bachelor’s or master’s programme and have received your Zuyd student number through website

  • You meet the specific requirements of the programme and institution

  • The scholarships apply only to the government funded, fully English taught Bachelor programmes: European Studies, Hospitality (Hotel) Management, Interdisciplinary Arts, International Business, Music and the following Master programmes: Interior Architecture and Music.

  • You are required to pay the highest institutional tuition fees

  • You live in the Netherlands during your study period

  • You have never cut short a Zuyd programme without obtaining a degree

  • You can only be granted the Holland Scholarship if you have not previously obtained a degree from an education facility in the Netherlands

How to apply 

Students who apply for the Zuyd Excellence scholarship before May 1st are simultaneously applying for the Holland scholarship (combination grant). 

Holland Scholarship – Zuyd Excellence Applications received after May 1st will only be eligible for the Zuyd Excellence Scholarship. The final deadline for solely Zuyd Excellence Scholarships is December 1st. 

To apply for the Holland Scholarship and/or Zuyd Excellence grant please complete the online form and send it with all the required accompanying documents to internationaloffice@zuyd.nl before May 1st or December 1st. 


A committee of the International Office and the concerning faculty decides on the awarding and distribution of the scholarships among the applicants. They will make their selection based on the motivation and reference letters accompanying this registration form.

You will be notified of the scholarship awarding results by email:

before June 15th: in the case of the combination grant Holland Scholarship and Zuyd Excellence

within 6 weeks: in the case of solely the Zuyd Excellence Scholarship. 

The maximum duration of a Zuyd Excellence Scholarship is the nominal duration of the programme concerned. An awarded Holland Scholarship amounts to €5000,- maximum per student and applies only for the first academic year

If you are not granted a scholarship, you may deregister for the programme without any further obligations before August 31st preceding the academic year for which you have registered.
