University of Aberdeen Talisman Sinopec Undergraduate Scholarships Programme

Talisman Sinopec Energy (UK) Limited is offering three Entrance Scholarships. Each scholarship is valued at £2,000 per annum and will be awarded to the successful recipients for the duration of their 4/5 year undergraduate degree programme.
Talisman Sinopec Energy (UK) was created as a joint venture between Talisman Energy Inc. and Addax Petroleum UK Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group). They are already one of the North Sea's largest operators and operate 46 fields on the UK Continental Shelf with 11 offshore installations and one onshore terminal.

Description

Talisman Sinopec Energy (UK) Ltd. is offering three Entrance Scholarships. Students commencing studies in September 2016 are eligible to apply as follows:-

Talisman Sinopec Undergraduate Geology/Petroleum Geology Scholarship – one award

Eligible degrees are as follows:-

BSc Geography and Geoscience (FF68)
BSc Geology and Petroleum Geology (F602)
BSc Geology and Physics (FF63)

Talisman Sinopec Undergraduate Engineering Scholarships – two awards

Eligible degrees are as follows:-

BEng Engineering (H100)
BEng Engineering (Mechanical with Oil and Gas Studies) (H3H8)
BEng Chemical Engineering (H813)
BEng Petroleum Engineering (H851)
BEng Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) (H620)
BEng Engineering (Mechanical and Electrical) (HH36)
BEng Engineering (Mechanical) (H300)
MEng Chemical Engineering (H810)
MEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering (H605)
MEng Engineering (H104)
MEng Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (HHH6)
MEng Mechanical Engineering (H305)
MEng Mechanical Engineering with Business Management (H3N2)
MEng Petroleum Engineering (H850)

Each scholarship is valued at £2,000 per annum and will be awarded to the successful recipients for the duration of their 4/5 year undergraduate degree programme.
Additional features of the Talisman Sinopec Scholarship Programme open to Talisman Sinopec scholars include the opportunity to receive mentoring from Talisman Sinopec staff, invitations for scholars to relevant events, and the opportunity to interview for a summer placement.

Eligibility

Only applicants domiciled in the UK and classified as Home Fees OR applicants normally domiciled in the UK but temporarily living outside the UK and classified as Home Fees OR citizens of the European Union domiciled in the European Union are eligible to apply for the Talisman Sinopec Scholarships.
To be considered for a Talisman Sinopec Scholarship you will need to have applied to the University of Aberdeen for a place starting in September 2016; to be awarded a scholarship you must receive and then firmly accept an offer, either conditional or unconditional, of a place at the University. The scholarships can only be held by students of the University – they cannot be transferred to another institution.

Criteria

The University will award the Talisman Sinopec Scholarships to applicants who have good academic potential, and who are likely to be successful in their chosen degree course.
The Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic potential and demonstration of specific personal characteristics (see guidelines for full details).
