EU and Legal Reform Summer School, 10-16 July 2016, Montenegro

Publish Date: May 10, 2016

Deadline: May 15, 2016

CCSDD DOES OFFER A NUMBER OF FULL AND PARTIAL SCHOLARSHIPS!

Since 2003, more than 180 students and scholars from 26 countries have traveled to Igalo, Montenegro to attend the European Union & Legal Reform Summer School, a weeklong post-graduate course organized by the CCSDD and the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade.

During the course, students attend an innovative series of lectures and roundtable discussions in order to deepen their understanding of the EU's expansion eastward and all of the subsequent legal and constitutional implications. Balkan countries and former Soviet satellites represent key areas for future enlargement, but the regions' recent histories of conflict have brought a number of issues to the fore. Past Summer Schools have tackled topics like minority rights protection, constitutional courts and constitutional justice, the implications of EU enlargement on democratic transitions and consolidation, reforms still needed by 'consolidated democracies', and lessons to be learned from the founding members of the European Economic Community (EEC).

PLACE, COSTS, SCHOLARSHIPS

This year's one-week Summer School will take place in Igalo (Herceg-Novi), Montenegro, from July 10-16, 2016. The full cost of tuition, accommodation and food during the time of the conference is approximatively 850,00 EUR. However, CCSDD offers a number of partial and full scholarships available for students from Italy and countries of Central and Eastern Europe. While selection of applicants will be based on the academic merit of the applications, those willing to bear the participation costs fully or partially will be preferred in case of equally strong applications.
