Bond University offers living stipend scholarships for commencing Doctoral degree students.

Background: Bond University offers a range of living stipend scholarships for commencing Doctoral degree students. Living stipends are tax exempt, and provide financial support to enable students to focus on their studies.

The 2016 Bond University Postgraduate Award provides an opportunity for outstanding commencing candidates to receive a living allowance of $26,288.00 p.a. (indexed annually) for up to three years. The scholarship is tax-free and contributes to living costs for three years for PhD students (pro rata for part-time students).

A limited number of scholarships are available. They are awarded to students wishing to continue their education through higher degree research.

Scholarships will be based on the key criteria and awarded on academic merit.

Students cannot apply if they hold another scholarship in the requested period.

Late or incomplete Scholarship applications received after 31st March, 2017 will not be considered.

Eligibility

In order to apply for an HDR program, students must meet the required academic entry requirements, as well as satisfy visa, residency and English proficiency requirements.

The scholarship is open to students who are studying a PhD Doctorate by Research AND hold a valid Letter of offer for enrolment at Bond University.

Previous applicants for Scholarships, who have been unsuccessful, are not eligible to re-apply.

Scholarship application process

Step 1 - Expression of Interest Your first step is to lodge a HDR Expression of Interest.  Once your Expression of Interest has been accepted, you will be required to make an application for admission to a HDR Doctoral program through the relevant Faculty.

Step 2 - Find a Supervisor To start this process, click on the Find a Supervisor button.

Step 3 - Admission to Bond University To start this process, click on the Apply for admission button..

Step 4 - Apply for a Scholarship Once your application for admission has been approved, and you have received your Letter of Offer, you may then apply for a scholarship through the Apply for Scholarship button.

Before you can apply

Step 1 - Expression of interest

Step 4 - Apply for a scholarship

Once your application for admission has been approved, and you have received your Letter of Offer, you may then apply for a scholarship.

Steps 1 - 3 of the Application process must be completed prior to lodging your Scholarship application. These 3 steps may take up to 4 weeks to complete - ensure that you allow for this time before the Scholarship application closure date of 31st March, 2017.

If you have previously applied for a scholarship at Bond University, and were unsuccessful, you are not eligible to re-apply.

Late or incomplete Scholarship applications received after 31st March, 2017 will not be considered in this Round.

Frequently asked questions

Scholarship awarded:

Once you have been awarded your Scholarship, the Research Scholarship Officer will contact you and provide you with a Schedule and Acceptance Letter and Terms and Conditions for your Scholarship.

Scholarship acceptance:

When you receive a Schedule and Acceptance letter, along with the Terms and Conditions of your scholarship, you will need to read, sign and return the documents, and provide your Australian bank account details to the Research Scholarships Officer before your scholarship can be processed.

Your scholarship stipends will not commence until you are fully enrolled in your HDR program.

It is important you read this document, and sign that you accept the terms and conditions. Failure to adhere to your scholarship terms and conditions may result in suspension or termination.

Leave entitlements:

Leave entitlements in general will align with those for your Higher Degree Research (HDR) program.

Additional leave entitlements may be available depending on your circumstances.

Change of study plan:

Should you wish to change your study plan from full-time to part-time or vice versa, you must advise the your Supervisors and the Research Development Manager of the Faculty by completion of the relevant form.

Scholarship extensions:

Some scholarships may be extended beyond the initial term of three years.

To apply for a scholarship extension, you will need to complete a Request for extension form, and forward it to both your Faculty Research Development Manager and the Research Scholarships Officer

Scholarship suspension:

Your scholarship will be suspended if you postpone your studies or fail to comply with your scholarship terms and conditions.

Please advise your Supervisors and the Research Development Manager should you need to suspend your scholarship.

Failure to notify is a breach of the scholarship terms and conditions and may result in termination.

Scholarship termination:
Stipends will be terminated:

  • When the maximum duration of your scholarship term has been reached;
  • Two weeks after the submission of your thesis and
  • If your higher degree research is terminated due to inadequate academic progress
