Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Institute of Digital Economy and Innovation (IDEI) within the Faculty of Business and Economics (Ref.: 515002) (to commence as soon as possible for up to two years, with the possibility of renewal upon satisfactory performance)
The Institute focuses on interdisciplinary research of digital innovation and businesses in the digital era. It hosts HKU professors and research fellows with expertise on digital economy and innovation, with a focus on three contemporary innovation propellers: intelligent technologies, data analytics, and digital transformation.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Information Systems, Operations Management, Statistics, Computer Science, or a closely related data-analytics discipline. They should have strong analytical skills and excellent ability to communicate effectively both in writing and in oral presentations in English. Experience and familiarity with advanced data analytics topics (e.g. voice recognition, text mining, computer vision, and econometrics modeling techniques) would be an advantage. Working knowledge of High-Performance Computing Cluster, VM/Container, Artificial Intelligence (AI) computing platform, grid computing system, and cloud technologies would also be desirable.
The appointee is to be positioned as a research scientist of the Institute and report to the director of IDEI or his/her delegate. He/She will work with IDEI faculty members to pursue high-quality academic publication and support applied research projects in collaboration with external business partners. The appointee will also work on the central computing facilities of IDEI as a senior data scientist by administrating the central computing facility and providing data analysis support to assigned research works.
