This course is about how we interpret and represent furniture design through a variety of modelling techniques. It is ideal for students who are new to the subject and to the UK.
It begins with the opportunity to explore the rich and varied history of furniture making from around the world. Then, through drawing and model making, you will examine the construction methods and materials of these pieces, whilst learning about the cultures and technologies which have inspired designers. You will be introduced to the notion of drawing, model making and design as tools for recording, reflecting and communicating ideas around the many variable approaches to the production of furniture.
By the end of the two weeks, you will have created new work for your portfolio and enhanced your CV, as well as improved your knowledge of design practices.
