The Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratisation in the Caucasus
The MA in Human Rights and Democratisation in the Caucasus/CES Programme is bilingual and innovative one-year interdisciplinary graduate programme in the region that provides knowledge and thorough training in the fields of human rights and democratisation.
The main aim of the programme is to support promotion of democracy, rule of law and good governance, together with strengthening Human rights protection in the region of Former Soviet Republics.

The Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratisation offers students a combination of interdisciplinary approach, theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
What
The MA Programme is designed for participants from various professional and academic backgrounds (legal, social, political science, etc.). It provides solid theoretical foundation and proposes three main tracks – legal, political and interdisciplinary. The programme adopts two-dimensional development approach, which allows students to choose specialisation and to develop both research and practical skills (fact finding mission interviews, policy paper writing, advocacy skills, etc.).
Who
The Regional Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratisation in the Caucasus is implemented by four universities:
- Yerevan State University, Programme Coordinator
- Belarusian State University
- Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University
- Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiyv
During 2010-2014 the project was also implemented at University of European Political and Economic Studies Constantin Stere, Chisinau, Moldova.
