Scholarships for The Western Balkans and Turkey for Master’s Studies

Overview

Swedish Institute (SI) Scholarships for the Western Balkans and Turkey are open for citizens of the Western Balkans and Turkey, for master’s degree studies starting in the autumn semester 2020.

We offer scholarships to full-time master’s degree studies in Sweden starting in the autumn semester 2020.

Criteria

Country of citizenship

Only citizens of one of the six Western Balkan countries or Turkey are eligible for this scholarship programme.

Country of citizenship

Citizens of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia or Turkey are eligible to apply.

Work experience

To be eligible for the scholarships for the Western Balkans and Turkey, you must be able to demonstrate your work experience within the field related to democracy, human rights or the rule of law, including gender equality, equal opportunities and non-discrimination, or independent media. The experience may be demonstrated through current or previous full- or part-time employment, paid or unpaid internship, volunteer assignments, as well as through positions as chairperson or board member at student unions or student organisations. There is no requirement in regards to a minimum number of hours.

You will be required to certify the experience in your application. If you are unable to demonstrate any kind of work experience according to our instruction, your application will be disqualified. However, it is not required that you are employed at the time of the application.

Strong and relevant work experience from civil society or public sector in your home country is prioritised.

Leadership experience

Leadership experience is not a requirement for applicants applying for scholarships for the Western Balkans and Turkey. However, your application will be prioritised if you have demonstrated and relevant leadership experience, especially from civil society or public sector.

Leadership experience involves the experience to lead other colleagues/organisations, mandate to influence the development strategy for the organisation you work at, allocate tasks to colleagues and familiarity with decision-making processes.
