Digital Humanities: Fully Funded PhD Studentship: Cross-Language Digital Humanities: Cultural Data

We seek a PhD applicant (to enrol no later than 17 July 2017) in the area of Cross-Language Digital Humanities, to work on his/her chosen domain of cultural data. The successful candidate will be keen to work on a dataset or datasets of a type and scale which requires computational analysis, but which also demands cross-culturally and cross-linguistically informed understanding. You will work with researchers at Swansea University, based in the College of Arts and Humanities and Department of Computer Science, whose projects include experimental visual analysis of literary multi-translations corpora. The successful applicant will be the individual who proposes the most exciting and feasible project, as well as meeting all the other criteria.

The successful candidate will be supervised by Dr Tom Cheesman (Department of Modern Languages) and Dr Robert Laramee (Department of Computer Science).

Eligibility

Applicants should have an undergraduate (BA/BSc) or Master's (MA/MSc) degree in a relevant subject area.

Due to funding restrictions, this studentship is open to UK/EU students only.

Funding

The studentship covers the full cost of UK/EU tuition fees, plus a tax free stipend of £14,296 p.a.

Additional research expenses of £600 p.a. from the College of Arts and Humanities and £600 p.a. from the College of Science will also be available.
