Bachelor in Social Work

European societies are going through significant change. The growing gap between the rich and the poor, conflicts between nations and ethnic groups and demographic change are all urgent issues that require targeted solutions by qualified professionals. Social workers, with their specific academic training, are among the most wanted professionals in this era characterised by uncertainty.

Course description

We offer a 3-year study programme that explores the main societal issues of our times: migration, poverty, mental health issues, addiction, disability. You will study these issues in depth and learn the most recent methodologies to tackle them.

You will acquire scientific knowledge and the skills required to fulfil the needs of citizens more effectively and to make a real contribution in addressing the most complex socio-political issues. Speaking German and English, besides Italian - the three languages in which the modules are taught - will enable you to be more sensitive towards cultural and linguistic difference.

Structure of the course

Fundamental subjects like Psychology, Sociology, Social Policy and Anthropology will help you understand individual and social behaviour in various contexts (social, cultural, economic and political). The methodologies of social work offer possible solutions when working with individuals, families and groups to help them solve the issues of exclusion, discrimination or conflict they are affected by.

Exchange programmes and internships

Currently we offer exchange programmes with more than 30 partner universities all over the world and we are part of a large network of collaboration with employers in Italy and abroad where you can undertake your internship. You will need to undertake two compulsory internships lasting a minimum of 350 hours each.

They're working for public or private social services providers, in childcare services, in youth support and family care services, in care for people with disabilities, in elderly care services, in prevention and rehab services for addictions, supporting refugees and migrants and supporting women who have been victims of abuse.
