Summer School - Translational Neurosciences: Ageing Brain, 2022, University of Groningen, Netherlands

Publish Date: Mar 14, 2022

Deadline: Apr 17, 2022

Event Dates: from Jul 02, 2022 12:00 to Jul 10, 2022 12:00

Ageing poses an increasing burden on European societies. Currently, treatment of age-related diseases is highly demanding in time and money. The ageing population will require substantial reorganization of health care budgets and infrastructure of hospitals and nursing homes. Particularly, neurodegenerative diseases resulting in dementia and motor disability urgently require our attention.
This year's educational program consists of 5 full days of inspiring and interactive lectures, workshops and field trips covering a broad spectrum of topics like brain anatomy, brain development, neuropsychiatry and ongoing ageing research.
During the week, participants will dive deeper into different neurological diseases. Professors and other medical experts will give students a better understanding of the pathophysiology, the clinical and social aspects of the different disorders. In addition, patients are invited to give their perspectives on living and dealing with their disease, e.g. Parkinson’s and Huntington’s disease.
Group assignments are an integral and critical part of the program and a great way to get to know each other! During these sessions, participants will work in small, multidisciplinary teams. The goal is to improve scientific skills and apply them in developing a solution to medical problems.
The preliminary educational programme can be found at the bottom of this page. Topics are subject to change depending on the availability of our resources.
Do you have an interest in translational neuroscience, want to be part of an inspiring week and work together with students from all over the world, then fill in your application!
