Summer School on Democracy

The Institute of the Political Science, University of Wroclaw, has been organizing Summer Schools on Democracy since 2013 to provide a hundred or so PhD students and young researchers an overview of the latest developments in the key areas of the political science.

The Summer School is a one-of-a-kind combination of a summer school programme with networking. Its blended package includes supplement to the University-wide curriculumteaching of soft skillsinspirational speakers, and collaboration with the representatives of various academic institutionsThe Summer School on Democracy is a great opportunity to bring together doctoral students and candidates to learn and discuss the research and disseminate their results.  

Editions 

The Summer School 2021 will have three editions. Each edition will feature 3 lectures and last 5 days. 

1st edition "Democratic Development in the 20th and the 21th century"  

2nd edition - "Civic Engagement in Contemporary World" 

3rd edition - "In Search of New Understanding"

Instruction language: English 

Admission requirements 

The summer school is open for local and international participants. There are 20 places available for doctoral students, including 10 from the University of Wroclaw and 10 from the institutions all over the world. Eligible applicants must be from disciplines of political science, sociology, history, law, philosophy, or communication with broad interests and an inquisitive mind representing their respective disciplines.  

The selection of participants shall take place by way of a competition – assessment of the abstracts of proposed presentations. 

Abstracts must be sent to summerschool@uwr.edu.pl. Deadline for submitting the abstracts is July 10, 2021. Accepted applicants will be notified by July 30, 2021. 

Costs 

The participation costs are covered by the University of Wroclaw within the STER programme financed by the National Agency for Academic Exchange. The participants are expected to cover their travel costs.
