Description of the Scholarship
Autism Spectrum Disorder (“autism” or “ASD”) describes several disorders which may involve, among other things, social skill challenges, communication issues, and/or repetitive behaviors. Our scholarship will be used to pay a portion of the tuition for the winning applicant at a trade school or college. It will be in the form of a direct tuition payment and must be used within 1 year after the announcement of the award.
Who is Eligible to Apply?
If your diagnosis includes Autism Spectrum Disorder (DSM-5), and you intend on continuing your education, you are invited to apply for the award. The scholarship will be applied to offset the tuition at the university, college, junior college, trade school or vocational school of your choice. If you apply, we may ask you for evidence of your diagnosis. Note that there is no requirement that you be attending school at the time you present your application.
Deadline for Applications and Selection of Winning Applicant
To apply, please complete the application (see below). That includes, among other things, a short explanation (125 words or less) of your intended use of the funds if you are selected, and an optional statement (1,200 words or less) describing how your educational journey has been affected by ASD.
The deadline for the submission of the application is April 1, 2022. The name of the winner will be provided, and they will be notified via email, on or before April 15, 2022. The Law Office of David P. Shapiro reserves the right to select the winner in the sole discretion of the Firm.
Privacy Policy
When you provide us with your application, the information becomes the Firm’s property. While we do not sell that information, or generally provide it to third parties, we do reserve the right to utilize it to report on or publicize the scholarship as part of our scholarship program.
