Ph.D. School in Economics and Finance – DEFAP
DEFAP School combines the research and teaching skills of two well-established universities: Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, and Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca. The School is run by a Managing Committee under the supervision of an International Scientific Committee.
The Graduate School (DEFAP) aims to:
- Offer students a thorough understanding of the working of modern economies;
- Equip students with the skills required to undertake successfully academic research and/or a career in the private sector, in international organizations and in governmental bodies.
Economics and quantitative methods form the core of the DEFAP programme. Our students are in daily contact with prestigious academics and are exposed to a culture of openness and diversity.
Financial Support
First year students at Defap Graduate School can enroll directly to the 3 year-doctoral programme (with scholarships) or to 1 year-master programme (without scholarships). After completing the master programme, successful students have the opportunity to compete for a PhD position endowed with a scholarship.
PhD Scholarships
The Graduate School offers five fellowships (for a period of three years) paying a grant of € 15.343 (gross income) per year. The monthly allowance can be increased up to 50% for our PhD students visiting academic or scientific institutions abroad.
Research funds are available from the second year.
Before getting to Milan, all candidates must ensure that they possess the necessary financial means to finance their stay in Milan for 2 months. The School will also provide the necessary information about how to get the VISA and Italian permit of stay.
