USQ Equity Scholarship
This is a merit-based, non-repayable scheme and targets students experiencing financial hardship. Scholarships and bursaries are awarded on a competitive basis.
Please Note: Should your application for a USQ Equity Scholarship (USQ Bookshop book bursary) be successful, the funds will not be available until approximately six weeks after the Semester 1 census date (which is 24 March, 2017).
If you are relying on a USQ Equity Scholarship to purchase your Semester 1 textbooks and study resources, we recommend you consider applying for an interest free Student Financial Loan. The USQ Equity Scholarship (USQ Bookshop book bursary) funds can be used to repay Student Financial Loans. Please refer to the Student Financial Loan webpage for more information and applications forms or contact Student Services.
Value
The scheme provides for five different award options:
- Book Bursary through USQ Bookshop up to $1 500 OR
- Officeworks Gift Card up to $1 000 OR
- Coles Gift Card up to $1 000 OR
- Woolworths Gift Card up to $1 000 OR
- Direct Deposit Bursary up to $1 000
Students will be required to number their preferences from 1-5. A limited number of Direct Deposit Bursaries are available. If the number of requests for Direct Deposit Bursaries exceeds the number available, the next preference will be considered. Applications without numbered preferences will be allocated by the scholarships office.
Eligibility
To be eligible applicants must:
- be enrolled in an undergraduate program (bachelor degree, associate degree, diploma)
- be either a continuing or commencing student
- be enrolled in a minimum of 3 study units in the semester of application (unless extenuating circumstances prevent this)
- be an Australian Citizen or have permanent resident status
The Government funding received for this scholarship stipulates that students who are International students are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Selection criteria
Applicants must meet some or all of the following criteria:
- those experiencing financial hardship
- Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
- rural and regional students
- those from a Non-English Speaking Background (NESB)
- students with a disability or medical condition
- students enrolled in non-traditional areas of study, based on gender.
NOTE: Students can be awarded multiple USQ Equity Scholarships over multiple semesters throughout their study at USQ. The outcome of past applications does not guarantee a favourable outcome in future applications.
