Through the generous support of the Tibet Foundation (London), SOAS has now launched four scholarships for the graduate study of Tibet. These Tibet Foundation awards are to be offered to students who study towards a SOAS masters (MA) degree, featuring one or more modules engaging with the arts, history, language or religion of Tibet.

Eligibility Criteria
  • UK or Overseas Applicants
  • Holding offer (conditional or unconditional) for full-time Postgraduate Taught (on campus) programmes (part-time programmes are not eligible)
  • Assessed on academic merit and work experience
Scholarship Application Deadline
  • Scholarship applications must be received by midnight (UK time) 30 April 2021
  • Applications usually take 2-4 weeks to process, but some can take up to 6 weeks during busy periods (we therefore recommend you apply for your programme by 15 March 2021 to ensure you have an offer by the 30 April 2021 scholarship deadline)
  • Incomplete or late applications will not be considered
Notification of Results
  • Successful applicants with an offer to study at SOAS will be notified by 30 June 2021
  • We aim to notify all applicants of the outcome of their application by 31 July 2021
Terms and conditions
  • Applicants will be selected based on academic merit and relevant work experience
  • Amount will be deducted from your Postgraduate degree fees
  • Amount cannot be used towards any Pre-sessional English programme
  • Scholarship cannot be combined with any other major scholarship or studentship (applicants can apply for multiple scholarships, but can only accept one in the event they are successful in more than one application)
  • The assessment of your application will be based on the information provided in your scholarship application and in your online application for your Postgraduate programme of study (selection committee will be looking at the degree results, references, personal statement, work experience and other relevant information)
  • Applicants must have an offer of admission to a 12 months full-time degree programme at SOAS by the scholarship application deadline.
Scholarship Application Procedures

Applicants should follow the following steps:

  • STEP 1: Apply for the programme
    In addition to the online scholarship application, new applicants only (new admissions, starting in September 2021), must submit a complete online application for admission. Applicants must have an offer of admission at SOAS by the scholarship application deadline. A complete application for admission includes transcripts, an explanation of the grading system for any degrees obtained outside of the UK, two references, CV, and a personal statement. The panel will be considering your scholarship application together with your online application for admission. Please note that complete application for admission can take up to 4 weeks to be considered by the Department, although this duration can vary depending on the time of year. You should be prepared to wait up to 6 weeks in busy periods. It is recommended to apply for the programme about six weeks BEFORE the scholarship deadline.

 

  • STEP 2: Apply for the scholarship by 15:00 (UK local time) on 30 April 2021. Applicants must apply for this scholarship via the online scholarship application which will open in February 2021
