Economic and Social Research Council Studentships
Information on the ESRC application process for 2020-21 entry
The University of Edinburgh is a member institution of the Scotland-wide Graduate School of Social Science Doctoral Training Centres (SGSSS DTC) which is funded and accredited by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).
The SGSSS DTC provides world-class postgraduate research and training in the social sciences across a wide range of disciplines, known as 'pathways', including Economic and Social History. Scholarships are available for study on the PhD in Economic and Social History, either on its own (known as ‘+3’ funding), or as part of a package of funding including a year studying for the Masters by Research in Economic and Social History (known as ‘1+3’ funding).

Please note that applicants must be students from the UK or EU* countries, and satisfy the eligibility criteria of the ESRC. Please read this criteria carefully.
*EU applicants from outwith the UK and who have not been resident in the UK for the three years prior to the start of the studentship are only eligible for a fees-only award.
