About Scholarships 

Having an international student body is important to us, and improves the university experience for all our students.

We want to continue to attract outstanding students to Dundee from across the world, and are offering a range of new international scholarships for 2015/16.

The table below summarises what’s on offer. You can find more detailed information about each one at the links below the table.

Discover Dundee International Scholarship

The Discover Dundee International Scholarship is open to foundation, undergraduate and taught postgraduate international applicants. International applicants on eligible courses are guaranteed to be awarded £1,000 per year, which is deducted from your annual tuition fee. This scholarship is payable for each year of your degree at Dundee. There is no need to apply separately for this scholarship. If you are eligible we will confirm your award if we make you an offer.

The Dean's International Scholarship

The Dean’s International Scholarship is open to undergraduate and taught postgraduate international applicants. If you are successful you will be awarded £3,000 per year, which is deducted from your annual tuition fee. This scholarship is payable for each year of your degree at Dundee.

The Dean’s International Scholarship is available to applicants in each of our 15 Academic Schools. If we make you an offer for an eligible course, we will email you a link to an online scholarship application and ask you to submit a short supporting statement. Each Academic School will decide which of their applicants will receive the scholarship based on previous academic merit plus the supporting statement.

There are two deadlines for applying to the Dean’s International Scholarship:

• 15 June 2015 – for those applying to start in September 2015
• 15 November 2015 – for those applying to start in January 2016 (taught postgraduate only)

Vice Principal’s International Excellence Scholarship

The Vice Principal’s International Excellence Scholarship is awarded by the Vice Principal of each of our four academic Colleges will award a full tuition fee waiver for one academic year to one international applicant for an undergraduate or taught postgraduate course in their College. This fee waiver covers the full tuition costs for that academic year.

You do not have to make a separate application for this scholarship. If you apply for the Dean’s International Scholarship (see above) your application will also be assessed for the Vice Principal’s International Excellence Scholarship.

Dundee Alumni Scholarship

The Dundee Alumni Scholarship is open to all taught postgraduate applicants who have previously graduated from the University of Dundee. EU applicants who have previously studied with us on an exchange or study abroad programme may also be eligible. If you are eligible, you will be awarded £1,000 which is deducted from your tuition fee.

You do not have to make a separate application for this scholarship as your eligibility will be assessed when you make your postgraduate application.

Discount for early payment of tuition fees

International applicants who pay the full tuition fee in advance by the deadline below will be eligible for a 5% discount.

To be eligible you should pay the full tuition fee to the University by the dates below:

• 1st July 2015 – for applicants starting their course in September 2015
• 15th November 2015 – for applicants starting their course in January 2016

We will refund the 5% discount to your UK or home bank account, or against your University of Dundee accommodation account, four weeks after you have matriculated (registered) at the University of Dundee.

Tuition fee guarantee

We realise that it is difficult for our international applicants to commit to an undergraduate degree for three or four years when you do not know how much the tuition fee will be after your first year. Unlike most other UK universities, we have agreed a fee guarantee for international applicants to our undergraduate courses from 2015/16 onwards.

This means that the tuition fee you see on our course pages for 2015/16 is the same fee you will pay for each year of your course. We guarantee that this will not increase while you are studying with us. The only exceptions to this are our MBChB Medicine, BDS Dentistry and BSc Medical Sciences degrees which charge a different tuition for the clinical years.
