University of Birmingham College of Arts and Law Doctoral Scholarships
In addition to AHRC funding provided through the AHRC Midlands3Cities consortium, the College of Arts and Law offers a number of scholarships for full-time UK, EU and international research students.
Applications are welcome from students wishing to study any discipline covered within the College's five schools:
- English, Drama, and American Studies
- History and Cultures
- Languages, Cultures, Art History and Music
- Philosophy, Theology and Religion
- Law
Value of Award
These awards cover tuition fees for three years full-time, or six years part-time.
The awards also include £11,000 support per year towards living expenses for full-time applicants, adjusted pro-rata for part-time applicants.
Eligibility Criteria
These awards are open to students worldwide for full- and part-time, campus-based doctoral research in the College of Arts and Law.
Applications are also open to current students.
Note: If you apply for these scholarships, you will also be considered for additional awards for Music and for the Stanley Ray scholarships.
How to Apply
Applicants who have already applied for AHRC funding through the Midlands3Cities consortium will automatically be considered for one of these College awards, without submitting a separate application.
