The University of Tartu has four main faculties, which include 55 bachelor’s, 71 master’s, and 33 doctoral study programs of the university.

The general language of instruction in the university is Estonian, however, there are also three-level courses offered in English. 

Apply to Tartu!

The initial deadline for the bachelor’s programmes in English is from January 2 to April 15. The latest deadline for applications is the 15th of June. 

The general admission requirements include: 

The admission process consists of several stages. The first stage involves an online application. Afterward, applicants should present the necessary documents. When having submitted the documents and filled the online application, the candidates should proceed with paying the university application fee. This is the last step to be completed by the applicants. After this, the university admission team starts the evaluation of the applications and establishes them once they are ready.

Tuition and Scholarships 

Tuition 

Depending on the programme you choose to enroll in, you may obtain a tuition waiver for your studies. If your particular course does not offer a tuition waiver, you will have to pay your tuition to start your studies. Check out the costs for your particular programme.

The tuition fees vary from course to course for international programmes. Here are the average fees for the courses available in each faculty.

  • Humanities - 4,000 euros per year

  • Social Sciences - 3,800 euros per year  

  • Medicine in English - 12,000 euros per year 

  • Science and Technology - 5,000 euros per year

Scholarships 

Tuition waivers are available for those applicants who demonstrate academic background, extraordinary merits, and talents. You can check out the webpage of your preferred course to find out the number of waivers available for that specific programme. In case the student meets the nominal study load requirement, the tuition waiver covers the tuition fee. The nominal study load is completed if no more than 6 credits are missing from the 30 ECTS workload per semester.
