The University of Kent has evolved from 500 students and 150 staff to a university with over 19,000 students and 3,000 staff members. Its remarkable reputation for the quality and uniqueness of its academic activities and locations is bolstered by consistent top 20 rankings in major league tables and two Queen's Anniversary Prizes. Kent is "the UK's European university," with campuses in Canterbury and Medway and centers in Brussels, Paris, Athens, and Rome. Through exceptional education and research, the University has a significant impact on their region's economic, social, and cultural life. Indeed, their activities contribute £0.9 billion to the economy of the southeast area: they are devoted to leading activities that benefit our entire region.
Kent University is one of the most prestigious universities in the United Kingdom, and it is not surprising why it is being found in a bunch of leading university rankings, such as:
-
48th in the Times University Guide 2021
-
82nd in the Guardian University Guide 2021
-
383rd in the QS World University Rankings 2022
A university in Canterbury was initially proposed in 1947, when a projected increase in student numbers prompted some locals, including Kent, to seek the establishment of a new institution. The plans, however, never came into a reality. A decade later, population growth and increased demand for university spots prompted a reconsideration. The University of Kent at Canterbury was the university's initial name, selected in 1962 to reflect that the campus straddled the county town of Canterbury and Kent County Council.

Admissions criteria and eligibility
International students make up 16% of students, with a student-faculty ratio of 1:12. The admission committee evaluates the academic qualifications of an application to see if they meet the suggested prerequisites and English language competency requirements. The following are some key aspects to consider when applying to the University of Kent:
-
The deadline for undergraduate applications is January 15, while the deadline for postgraduate applications is July 31.
-
There are no set application deadlines for home/EU students, although it is strongly advised that they apply as soon as possible, no later than three months prior to the anticipated start date.
-
The foreign application must be submitted using the UCAS platform, which includes a UCAS Track option for tracking the process of the application.
-
The institution proposes country-specific entrance requirements for international students.
-
Proof of English language competency is recognized in the form of IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE, and CAE/CPE.
-
An application's credibility is enhanced through references and personal statements. For some programs, a CV may be required.
In light of the COVID-19 epidemic, the institution has implemented flexibility measures. Pre-sessional English classes for applicants who do not speak English are now available online, in addition to other continuing courses. The University of Kent is likewise foregoing traditional language competency examinations in preference of an English online test.
Scholarships
The University of Kent offers EU students who begin their studies between September 2021 and September 2022 a discounted EU cost of 25% off their usual international fee. For the duration of their programs, their unique EU fee status will be guaranteed. Kent has over 100 grants for Kent students with a First or 2.1 degree who are pursuing postgraduate studies at any of our UK and European campuses.

Accomodation
University housing is open and has been open throughout the pandemic, both on the Canterbury campus and at Pier Quays in Medway. For many students, living on campus is an essential component of their education. Kent wants their students to get the most out of their university experience, so they provide a guaranteed housing offer to first-year and clearing students. New full-time students must apply by July 31. When applying early, full-time second, third, and fourth-year students are also assured a room (typically before 1 March). Make sure you apply for housing before the deadlines listed above, and then make Kent your firm choice to ensure you receive an offer. Then, when your offer is sent to you through email, make sure to accept it or contact us before it expires (usually a few days later). We have a wide range of accommodation options to suit everyone, and there is no need to pay an application fee or a deposit. All you need to know is which room is right for you, and then apply.
