Project Description

The School of Language and Global Studies at the University of Central Lancashire is pleased to offer a studentship to prospective MA by research students to begin in July 1st 2017.

In the UK Government’s recent REF 2014 assessment of research activity, 70% of outputs were judged to be ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ in Modern Languages and Linguistics in the School. Based in Preston in Lancashire, the School has a number of research hubs, including the Worldwise Centre, the International Institute of Korean Studies, and the International Institute for Sign Languages and Deaf Studies.

Under the lead of the TESOL and Applied Linguistics team, applications are invited for a studentship to support tuition fees for up to three years of full-time study. We welcome research proposals on any TESOL-related area. We have a particular interest in the following or related fields:

  • Second Language Acquisition
  • Instructed Second Language Acquisition
  • Digital technologies and language teaching
  • Second Language Pragmatics and intercultural communication

Candidates should have (or expect to hold) a UK Bachelor degree at 2:1 or above in a related area (or equivalent qualification).

EU and International applicants require an English Language level of UKVI IELTs 7.0 (no sub-score below 6.5) or equivalent qualification.
