The Summer School ‘The European Union, the United Nations and Global Governance’ will focus on a range of topics relevant to interactions between the European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN) and the EU’s role within current patterns of global governance.
Course information
The Summer School ‘The European Union, the United Nations and Global Governance’ will focus on a range of topics relevant to interactions between the European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN) and the EU’s role within current patterns of global governance.
It will include lectures by eminent scholars in European Integration, International Organization and Global Governance. The Summer School has been initiated by and will be conducted under the academic leadership of Professor Madeleine Hosli (in collaboration with several colleagues from Leiden University and external experts).
Among the themes covered are the:
- The United Nations and regional integration
- EU and interactions with the UN;
- EU and global security governance;
- EU and multilateralism, challenges to global climate governance, migration;
- EU and global economic, fiscal and tax governance.
The Summer School will consist of lectures, seminars, short presentations by the participating students, a simulation game and a visit to EU institutions in Brussels (all offered live if circumstances allow for this, with ‘remote’ as a backup option).
