International Year One

This specialist programme will prepare you for joining the second year of your dual or single honours degree at Keele University. A dual honours degree will broaden your skills and career opportunities – this is reflected in Keele graduates’ exceptional employment record.

What is the International Year One?

It is a programme of academic subjects, study skills and English language training that is equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree.

Programme length

You will study the 4, 3.5 or 3 term programme, depending on your academic and English language levels.

You can choose one of four subject routes:

  • Business and Management
  • Computing
  • International Relations and Politics
  • Media

Programme structure

You will study a combination of core and subject-specific modules that focus on academic areas most useful to your chosen degree. 

Regular assessment

To ensure you make steady progress and achieve the results you need, we’ll give you regular assessments. These include exams, coursework, presentations and extended essays.

Progress to your undergraduate degree

Once you complete the programme, and achieve the required grades, you can enter the second year of your chosen undergraduate degree.
