5 PhD scholarships at the Department of Management, Politics and Philosophy including CBS LAW

The Department of Management, Politics, and Philosophy (MPP) including CBS LAW at Copenhagen Business School invites applications for up to five PhD positions.

MPP carries out disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research in the humanities and social sciences with a focus on management, law, strategy and organisation across private and public sectors and civil society. It is thus positioned at the centre of CBS’s business-in-society mission. It is organised into different research groups: law; politics; business history: management philosophy; management and entrepreneurship. Faculty within these groups have research backgrounds in all areas of political science, sociology, philosophy, history, law, anthropology, theology, tourism and leisure management, cultural economics and other areas. What unites faculty is an overriding concern for the human within its multiple environments: work, nature, economy, civil association, the state, and the corporation.

MPP includes CBS Law. Founded in the international and national legal framework for businesses, its research focuses on business law from a societal and commercial perspective. Consequently, the research concentrates on the content of and interplay between international Law, EU Law and national Law.

Applicants are required to develop a well-specified research proposal, which should relate to the following:
  • Law and multi-level governance and/or law and ethics
  • Leadership and strategy
  • Leisure management
  • Any area which fits the departmental profile and can be supervised within it (two positions)
We invite interested candidates from different disciplinary and multidisciplinary backgrounds in the humanities and social sciences that would be relevant to these themes.

The three-year PhD program at CBS allows you to conduct research under the supervision of CBS professors, supported by research training courses. The program is highly international, and you are expected to participate in international research conferences and to spend time abroad as a visiting PhD student.

It is also required that the applicant shows an interest in joining the Department’s research environment. CBS PhD graduates are held in high esteem not only in academia and research institutions but also in government and business where their research qualifications are increasingly demanded.

Copenhagen Business School has a broad commitment to the excellence, distinctiveness and relevance of its teaching and research programs. Candidates who wish to join us should demonstrate enthusiasm for working in an organisation of this type (highlighting, for example, relevant business, educational and dissemination activities).

The planned starting date for the positions is on 1 September 2019 but may be agreed upon individually.
