CEPS Summer School 2017 on Economic and Financial Governance of the Economic and Monetary Union

Course overview

The CEPS Summer School 2017 on Economic and Financial Governance of the EMU is a week-long training programme that aims to challenge participants to sharpen their knowledge and understanding of three main areas under EMU governance and the architectural structure and operations of that governance:

  • Banking Union and Capital Markets Union
  • Macroeconomic governance and economic policy
  • Brexit

The programme will analyse each of these areas from a policy perspective, combining lectures with seminars led by policy-makers and international experts, simulation exercises and discussion groups. The purpose is to help participants understand the challenges confronting the EU today, how decisions are taken at the EU level and the practical implications for the economy and the financial system.

Classes are conducted by highly experienced CEPS researchers, who will present the most recent developments on EU policies and draw in the state of the art in academic literature. Classes are complemented by workshops led by policymakers from different EU institutions.

Target audience

The ideal candidates for the summer school are academics, officials from the EU institutions, national ministries, local or regional government agencies, central banks and professionals from the private sector who are interested in learning about real-life economic and financial policy issues within EMU.
