The objective of this two-week intensive course in laboratory animal science is to present basic facts and principles that are essential for the human use and care of animals and for the quality of research. When you successfully complete the basic course with the integrated species-specific course 'rodents and rabbits' you will be capable of designing procedures and projects and to execute simple procedures on these animals. The course is FELASA accredited.
The objective of this 2-week intensive course in laboratory animal science is to present basic facts and principles that are essential for the human use and care of animals and for the quality of research. For the function ‘designing procedures and projects’ the Dutch government requires competency. The course consists of two parts, a basic course and a species-specific course rodents and rabbits. These two will give the required competence. When you successfully complete the basic course with the integrated species-specific course rodents and rabbits you will be competent to design procedures and projects and to execute simple procedures on these animals. The course is FELASA accredited.
The course may also be of interest for those who intend to set up and establish a similar course in their own country. For this purpose, during the course acquisition of teaching materials can be discussed with the course committee.
Aim of the course
The objective of the course is to present basic facts and principles that are essential for the humane use and care of animals and for the quality of research. From the beginning of the course emphasis is placed on the facts that the scientist is the central person in the design and performance of animal experiments and that he/she has specific responsibilities with respect to the welfare of the animals used.

Monday - Friday from 9.00 until 18.00 PM (two weeks).
