The program provides a broad understanding of state transformation issues in general and from the practical experience of the Czech Republic and its Central European neighbours draws knowledge for potential use in other countries around the world which are undergoing their own transformation/transition process. During the course students will gradually learn to understand various dimensions of a major transformation process – starting with sociological and political aspects, moving towards the economic side and concluding with the legal issues. The course is designed as an interdisciplinary forum, thus primarily, but not necessarily, it should engage students of social and humanity-related fields – Political Science, Law, Economics and Sociology.

WHY THIS PROGRAMME
Students will not only learn in the classroom, but also travel to Prague, Budapest, and Vienna visiting organizations that provide a depth of information.

Course aim
Students will leave this course understanding the transformation of Central Europe and apply their learnings to other countries around the world through final projects and papers.

Credits info: 6 EC

It is possible to receive an extra 2 extra ECTS for a total of 8 ECTS with extra assignments

TUITION INCLUDES

  • Transportation for the weekend trips (Prague, Vienna, Budapest)

Students should budget an additional €400-1000 depending on their spending habits for food in Brno (breakfast, lunch, dinner), weekend trips (lunch and dinner) and fun "optional" activities in Brno, Prague, Vienna, and Budapest (the underground labyrinth in Brno, Budapest baths, bars, etc.)
