Around 12,000 students from over 100 countries study and conduct research in Passau at one of the best universities in the world: scientifically sound, innovative and international.
Our aim is to be a forward-looking, internationally renowned and attractive Bavarian University for Europe that delivers a significant contribution to the solution of current and future challenges. This we will do by way of excellent research and qualifying our students for executive positions in science, business and society. Comprehensive education through science is our mission.
The University of Passau's four faculties offer 39 quality-assured degree programmes. Great learning experiences, innovative teaching methods and a strongly international outlook are the hallmarks of our academic portfolio.
You should budget for a minimum of €760 per month for accommodation, food, transport and other activities; this sum does not yet include your health insurance contributions! Nevertheless, your actual cost of living will vary depending on your lifestyle, and so you should treat this figure as an absolute minimum.
The University of Passau does not charge tuition fees. However, you have to pay a contribution of currently (as of summer semester 2021) €84.50 per semester at matriculation and re-registration. Much of this semester contribution goes to the student services association, which runs the refectory, cafeterias and halls of residence, among other things. The semester contribution also includes the fee for a semester bus pass for buses operated by Stadtwerke Passau (SWP).
The International Office awards a small number of scholarships every year to international degree-seeking students who have been enrolled in a bachelor's programme for at least two semesters (Minimum of 30 ECTS achieved) or in a master's programme for at least one semester (Minimum of 15 ECTS achieved).
