International Forum on Enhancing a Sustainable Nuclear Supply Chain


The Programme Committee is seeking abstracts which present examples of management system applications, quality management and/or the management of the supply chain. The abstract (max. 500 words) should summarise the objectives of the work, the main challenges, the main steps and findings and lessons learned. Presentations and posters are being sought on a wide variety of topics with an emphasis on practical examples of good practices in the area of management system development, implementation and continuous improvement.

The deadline for submitting your abstract has been extended to Sunday 31 May 2020, close of business.

• Supplier quality assurance and quality control
• Sub-supplier quality management
• Manufacturing oversight, quality plans, inspection and test plans
• How to assure good quality service supply in nuclear?
• Evaluating suppliers and supply including audits, indicators and other assessment methods
• Supplier interface management
• Informed customer/supplier role
• Laws & regulations, regulatory approvals, inspections and oversight – regulatory perspectives on the current and future supply chains
• Implementing international and national standards and their requirements related to procurement and supply chain management
• Graded approach
• Establishing, fostering and assessing safety culture in the supply chain
• Managing risk in supply chain (supplier risk / customer risk)
• Security (information and other) and export control
• How does economics impact the decision-making process?
• Collaboration tools and common development activities with/among suppliers
• Competence (skills, knowledge, attitudes) management
• Human performance (tools)
• Best practices/practical examples of leadership among many stakeholders
• Reactor technology vendors, manufacturers and suppliers perspectives on supply chain management opportunities and challenges
• Learning from suppliers – what does a supplier expect from nuclear operators and regulators?
• Obsolescence management
• Commercial item justification / dedication
• Existing and potential future initiatives to enable a healthy supply chain including national supply chain projects and potential common guidance
• Managing counterfeit, fraudulent and suspect items (CFSIs) in the supply chain
• Undeclared digital content and other types on undeclared design changes
• Advanced manufacturing techniques – challenges and future avenues
• Advanced nuclear power plants (incl. SMRs) and supply chain considerations – synergies and differences

Next steps:

Those who have submitted an abstract are expected to be notified on whether or not their abstract has been accepted in June 2020.

Confirmed presenters

Will be notified about the time schedule for submittal of their presentations or posters with the confirmation message. For oral presentations, the allocated time is 15 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions.
