Asia-Pacific-Euro Summer School on Smart Structures Technology
It is our pleasure to invite you to attend APESS 2019.
The Asia-Pacific-Euro Summer School on Smart Structures Technology will be held from July 15th to August 3rd at the historical Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering, Sapienza University of Rome, Italy.
APESS 2019 is organized in conjunction with 8th International Summer School on Smart Materials and Structures, held each year by the Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering of the University of Trento.
APESS 2019 is organized under the auspices of ANCRiSST – Asian-Pacific Network of Centers for Research in Smart Structures Technology and IASCM – International Association on Structural Control and Monitoring.
Participants of APESS will attend three-weeks of lectures given by world leading experts in Civil Engineering, Structural Dynamics and Control, Smart Structures Technology and Structural Health Monitoring.
You will participate in a technical visit to L’Aquila, largely destroyed by the 2009 earthquake, and several laboratory projects where you will learn about fundamental and practical uses of sensing principles and technologies for infrastructure monitoring. To reinforce knowledge gained during the sessions, they will also be challenged in a capstone competition.
APESS 2019 is open to graduate students, PhD students and postdoctoral researchersdoing research in the field of new technology and data analysis applied to structural health monitoring and structural control.
The APESS program will provide participants with an international program that recognizes both achievements in smart structures technology of participating nations as well as a common desire to pioneer a structured educational framework. Throughout this program, participants will be exposed to leaders in the field, both Italian and international.
APESS 2019 offers three Benedettini fellowships covering the registration fee to support the participation of outstanding APESS 2019 students.
The prizes will be awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding proficiency in Structural Dynamics and Health Monitoring; the evaluation will be based on documentation submitted and performance during APESS 2019 attendance.
