Two full scholarships for PhD study, and several smaller awards
In 2010 Hughes Hall launched the 125th Anniversary Appeal to raise £1.5 million for the Scholarship Fund, and has now reached this target. We are enormously grateful to all our benefactors for their generosity. This enables us to steadily increase our funding to students, often in joint awards with Cambridge University and other bodies.
FULL Scholarships
Two full Hughes Hall PhD Scholarships are awarded each year for full-time PhD study in any subject, in conjunction with the University of Cambridge. These cover both maintenance and fees for all three fee-paying years. Maintenance will be paid monthly by Hughes Hall at the university’s published rate, and fees via a Vice-Chancellor’s Award for a Home/EU student or a Cambridge International Scholarship for an Overseas student. Applicants must specify Hughes Hall as their first choice college in their university application.
Top-Up Scholarships
Hughes Hall also offers several scholarships of £2,500 per year, kindly provided by benefactors. These will normally be awarded to current or former Hughes Hall students applying for a higher, full-time course. Applicants must specify Hughes Hall as their first or second choice college in their university application.
Elizabeth Cherry Scholarship for PhD with preference for the Arts
Hong Kong Alumni Scholarship for any course
Chui Wen Mei Scholarship for any course
These awards are available to all nationalities and for all subjects. However, students who are awarded full funding from other grant-giving bodies are not eligible. The awards are tenable for the length of the recipient’s course, subject to annual review of their academic progress and their contribution to college life.
Applicants for these awards must complete the HH Scholarships Application Form and submit it to scholarships@hughes.cam.ac.uk by 1 December of the year before the course begins.
