Creatives and entrepreneurs unite!

You study theories and practices from Creativity, Technology and Entrepreneurship, demonstrating the value of design thinking, business modeling, innovation, customer validation and creative process. With mentoring and inspirational talks from entrepreneurs, creatives and start-ups, you turn your idea into a working business model and plan, and pitch in front of a jury.

Creatives and entrepreneurs unite, this is your summer course!

Do you want to combine business thinking, concepts for the application of (new) technology, social responsability and creativity in creating your own start-up?

In this intensive interdisciplinary two-week course in September 2019, you will join forces and form international start-up teams with inspiring students from all over the world. Together you work on your own or a team member’s innovative idea, or on an idea that you design together during the first week of the Summer Academy. In two intensive, fun and very dynamic pressure-cooker weeks, you gain skills and knowledge from the fields of Creativity and Entrepreneurship, demonstrating the value of design thinking, team building, business modeling, innovation, customer validation and creative processes. With mentoring and inspirational talks from entrepreneurs, professors, creatives and tech start-ups, you build on your team to turn your idea into a working business model and plan, and pitch it in front of a jury of experts from the creative industries.

Since 2014 this Summer Academy is organized by the School of Art and Economics at Utrecht University of the Arts.

The summerschool program takes place at the start of the Dutch academic year. It is not only a summerschool, but also the introduction on entrepreneurship for our third-year students (who have chosen entrepreneurship as a specialization). So please note that the participants will consist of ca. 25 third-year students from the Utrecht university of Arts, some 5 students from other Dutch universities, 5 last-year graduates who are going to start a company and 5 international participants (so roughly 40 students in total, of which 5 are international). Thus our offer is a bit different from other summer schools – but nevertheless an interesting and intensive program, with a diverse group of students! Since we only have a few international places available, we give priority to applicants who are still studying or have only just graduated.
