Women in Informatics Scholarship
The School of Informatics has a scholarship designed to support female Scottish students in their studies throughout their time at the University of Edinburgh.
About the fund
The fund is available to all female Scottish students taking undergraduate programmes in the School of Informatics, and is to a value of £1000 per year. Up to five scholarships will be awarded annually.
What to expect
Scholarship holders will be expected to act as Student Ambassadors for the School of Informatics. Throughout the academic year, they will represent the school at recruitment events such as Open Days and Offer Holder Days. It would be their role to talk to prospective students, as well as to give tours of our facilities.
About the selection process
The scholarships will be awarded broadly on the basis of academic merit. The selection panel will also take into account the financial circumstances of applicants to ensure that, as far as possible, a student's financial situation does not impede a university education. Each applicant will be expected to provide a short supporting statement outlining why they have chosen their programme of study at the University of Edinburgh, and why they would be a good ambassador for the School of Informatics.
This sum will be paid for the years up to, and including, the fifth year of a programme of undergraduate study. Students who do not maintain a good performance on the programme may lose the scholarship.
