The Identity Management and Registration Section is responsible for setting standards and policies and providing operational guidance for registration and case management processing across field operations globally, for ensuring that individual data quality is of the highest standard and that refugee identities are secured and preserved over time through the standard use of corporate case and identity management tools and documentation, and for building capacity for a comprehensive registration response in all operational contexts.

We are looking for two proactive, enthusiastic individuals to complete a six months internship in UNHCR’s IMRS team. This internship is located in the UN City in Copenhagen with the Identity Management and Registration Section of The Division of Program Support and Management and will report directly to the Registration Officer. The primary responsibility of this position is to support the organization and up-keeping of IMRS related documentation systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

We seek a dynamic, driven and detail-oriented individual with a strong interest in refugee issues as well as excellent Microsoft Suite skills and familiarity with web application platform such as SharePoint, Intranet, workflow management, web content managemet, document management.

  • Develop, use and update a data collection system which allows maintaining information and documents from field operations in an organized and easy to use manner.
  • Organize and update documentation in Share Point, Intranet and other applications.
  • Produce maps, draft power point presentations or other materials to support IMRS to present information in various internal and external events.
  • Assist IMRS in drafting regular reports analyzing trends from field operations.
  • Research and keep abreast of developments in identity management including initiatives, talks, lectures and workshops by the UN and UN agencies, other international organizations, Governments and private sector.
  • Assist in the administrative organization and support for IMRS-related training and workshops.

Experience Required The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A university degree in Law, International Relations, Political Science, International Relations, Communications, Computer Sciences, IT or any other relevant field
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with fluency in English. Knowledge of other UN official languages is an asset.
  • Strong data entry and organizational skills
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office suite
  • Familiarity web application platform such as SharePoint, Intranet, workflow management, web content management, document management.
  • Availability to work full time (40 hours) for a six-month period

Location

The selected intern will be based with the team in UN City, Copenhagen and work under the supervision of the Registration Officer.

Conditions

The intern is expected to begin in August 2016 or sooner, and be available for 6 months. The role is full time (40 hours per week) with working hours between 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday. Please note that the terms of internship as defined by UNHCR practice, preclude payment of any kind.
