SIS Postgraduate Prize
We are now inviting entries for the SIS Postgraduate Prize 2017/18, which aims to raise the profile of Italian Studies at British and Irish Universities and to reward the excellent research being carried out in the discipline. The prize is worth £250, and is open to postgraduates (MA, MPhil, PhD) in Italian Studies who completed or will complete their studies in either 2016 or 2017 (calendar years).
Candidates should submit an MA dissertation or part (typically a chapter) of an MPhil or PhD thesis of not more than 15,000 words. As noted above, the dissertation or chapter should have been completed either in 2016 or 2017, and must not have been previously published or be currently under consideration for publication.
For practical reasons, the subject matter will be confined to the humanities and social sciences relating to Italy, from the Middle Ages to the present day. Work may be submitted in English or Italian. The judging panel will be made up of members of the SIS Executive Committee.
Essays must be submitted by the supervisor (not directly by the author) and must be accompanied by a covering email confirming the degree for which the author was (or is) registered and when they completed (or are due to complete) it. We cannot accept entries without the covering email.
Entries must be sent to Dr Gigliola Sulis (SIS Hon. Secretary) at g.sulis@leeds.ac.uk by 31st December 2017.
