MA in Political Science and International Relations

The MA in Political Science and International Relations (MAPSIR) is a 24 months, 100 ECTS Master's program delivered over a period of 4 semesters. Students are awarded the title of Master of Arts (M.A.) at the end of a structured program of learning and independent research concentrating on international relations, comparative politics, political theory, or Eurasian politics and societies.

Applications

  • Interested candidates must submit an official application form together with all required documents to the School of Humanities and Social Sciences by April 10, 2017.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview of about 20 minutes, which may be conducted as a face-to-face interview or via conference call.
  • Successful applicants will be notified by mail with an official letter of admission. The outcome of the applications for the MAPSIR program will be announced around the beginning of July.

Studying in the Program

The MAPSIR program emphasizes the development of four key skills:

  • Problem-solving through the rigorous use of concepts and methods
  • The ability to think theoretically about the workings of domestic and international political systems
  • Research skills through the conduct of a sustained research project with the use of cutting edge social science research methods
  • An understanding of the applied implications of scholarly knowledge

Thesis

  • A key requirement for graudation is a final thesis, through which students can gain precious independent research and methodological skills.
  • Our students have defended their theses on a variety of topics.
  • Prospective students should have a tentative idea of the broad topic they wish to write on at the time of application. Supervision is available in the three subfields of comparative politics, international relations and political theory.
