Eligibility

Our scholarship schemes (1-7) have specific eligibility criteria which are also set out above and on our web
pages. The criteria below apply to all scholarship applicants for these schemes.

  • All applicants must be eligible to pay the international fee. Applicants who are eligible for the Home (UK) or Home (EU) or ‘Islands Students’ status are not eligible for these schemes. In the case that an awardee is re-classified as non-international fee payer s/he is no longer eligible for these awards and the University reserves the right to re-consider the award.
  • Note that for all schemes Postgraduate PhD, Certificate, Diploma and CPD programmes are not eligible.
PhD programmes with an MRes are also excluded (e.g. Integrated PhD, MRes/PhD). All part time and
distance learning programmes are also excluded.
  • All applicants need to have formally accepted an offer of a place (conditional or unconditional) on a
Taught Postgraduate Masters Programme 2017-2018 at the time of making an application for a
scholarship. ‘Formally accepted’ means that the decision is logged on the University (SAMIS) application
    system.
  • If a scholarship is awarded to a conditional offer holder, then any scholarship will also be conditional on
the student achieving the conditions of entry.
  • Applicants must submit the completed online scholarships application form by 12:00 noon (GMT+1) on Thursday 1 st June 2017. In the case of multiple applications from the same candidate, only the earliest application by date will be considered.

It is the University’s responsibility to identify potential award recipients on the basis of these criteria but the University cannot be responsible for any errors or omissions in the information supplied to it and on which eligibility decisions are based. The University’s decision on the interpretation of eligibility criteria is final and there is no right of appeal. You must comply with all requests for additional information to establish your eligibility within the timeframes specified and you must submit any evidence requested by the stated deadline.

Deadlines and allocation

Once you have firmly accepted an offer for your degree programme, you should complete the application for Schemes 1-7 via the online International Taught Postgraduate Masters Scholarships form which is expected to be open from October 2016. Please also ensure that you keep your email address up to date in your Bath Application Tracker as you may also receive email alerts about our scholarships provision. It is a requirement that the email address provided is your personal email address and not the address of an educational representative or agent.
Please note that the University does not award scholarships in order of application and does not start selection until after the closing date.

Scholarship awardees are chosen primarily for their academic and extra-curricular excellence and their potential contribution to the international community at Bath. We use the information provided in the separate scholarship application form to judge the application together with the original course application and supporting documents. In addition, selection will take account of the need to encourage a diversity of intake to Bath. We wish to encourage students from all over the world to study here and to build a truly international community in all our subjects of study. We think it is important that students get to study and socialise with students from as many different countries and cultures as possible. Selection may also take account of the many partners of the University of Bath in education, government and the corporate sector in order to further our links with these organisations through our scholarships schemes.

You cannot be considered for an award if you have not submitted your application along with any appropriate evidence by the published deadlines. Awards cannot be claimed retrospectively and uunsuccessful applications will not be reconsidered.
If you already have a partial scholarship from another organisation (including another University of Bath scholarship) for part of your tuition fees, you can combine these scholarships provided that it does not equal more than the cost of your tuition fees. However, we will not give a University of Bath scholarship to anyone who already has a full scholarship (from another organisation) to pay for their tuition fees. If your financial situation changes, then the University reserves the right to reconsider the award. For example: in the case that you were awarded a full fee scholarship from another organisation, you would no longer be eligible for a University scholarship.
