What is Global Management of Social Issues?

  • This program integrates knowledge from three academic fields in the social sciences: human resource studies, organization studies, and sociology, from a cross-cultural and international comparative perspective.
  • Learn to approach complex societal challenges in an international context, such as poverty, migration, climate change, sustainable consumption or humanitarian interventions after a natural disaster.
  • Learn how to run projects and to compose teams of experts that work on the so called ‘wicked problems’ mentioned above.
  • Typical courses are: Introduction to Organization Studies, Human Resource Studies, Sociology, Wicked problems, Project Management, and International Organizations.

Description of scholarship

To contribute towards the cost of living, Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences has 4 scholarships available for excellent international applicants starting the Bachelor’s program in Global Management of Social Issues in September 2017. The Scholarship will consist of a monthly allowance for living expenses (a total amount of €10,000 per year for three years), arranged by the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the qualifications and motivation of the candidates. Candidates do not need to apply for the Scholarship separately, but will be considered for the Scholarship award during the application process. Scholarship candidates must include a paragraph to their motivation letter explaining why they think they should be awarded the scholarship and what they can contribute to the program. Successful candidates will be informed by May 31, 2017. The Scholarship will be extended each year, provided grant-holders attain good academic results and are on-course to graduate from the Bachelor’s program in Global Management of Social Issues program by September 2020 at the latest. 

Requirements

To qualify for the Scholarship you must fulfill the following criteria, in addition to the regular requirements for admission to the Bachelor’s program: 

Candidates must have been (unconditionally) admitted to the Bachelor’s program in Global Management of Social Issues for the academic year 2016-2017.

Candidates must be newly enrolled students at Tilburg University

Application procedure

Candidates do not need to apply for the Scholarship separately, but will be considered for the Scholarship award during the application process. Successful candidates will be informed by May 31, 2017. The Scholarship will be extended each year, provided grant-holders attain good academic results and are on-course to graduate from the Bachelor’s program in Global Management of Social Issues program by September 2020, at the latest.

Deadlines

The application deadline is May 1.

We have a rolling admissions procedure, which means that you can apply for the program any time between October 1 and May 1. 

We strongly advise you to apply for the program as soon as possible. If you apply right before the deadline it will be more difficult to collect missing documents, or respond to messages from our admissions office about possible problems with your application. It is better not to leave your application to the last moment.

Global Management of Social Issues only offers a fall intake (September). It is not possible to start the program in spring.

Before you start your studies here, there are some things you need to arrange, such as housing, payment of your tuition fees, visa, and more. This guide will take you through the process and the preparations you need to make before you come to Tilburg.

We will create a Facebook group for all admitted students for Global Management of Social Issues so that you can get to know your future classmates before you even move to Tilburg. You will receive an invitation to join the Facebook group via e-mail a few months before the start of the academic year.
