European Integration and Anti-Corruption Studies in the Caucasus

North Caucasus Federal University as a part of the Jean Monnet Network "Developing European Studies in the Caucasus" (DESCnet) invites graduate and post-graduate students to apply for the second DESCnet Winter School on Anti-Corruption Studies in the Caucasus.

ORGANIZERS/PROGRAMME

The school will be held from February 27 to March 4, 2017 and will be hosted by the North Caucasus Federal University in Stavropol (Russian Federation).

The School is the first to take stock of experiences in fighting corruption in the socio-economic context of the Caucasus. The participants will have an opportunity to study the experience of a variety of European countries in introducing innovative approaches to anti-corruption, e.g. e-governance, and new types of collective action models. An important part of the school will be student projects aimed at developing local solutions to the corruption problem. Student presentations are scheduled at the final part of the school programme.

ELIGIBILITY

The school is open to participants from all countries of the Caucasus including Russia and Turkey as well as to international students from the EU and beyond. Participants should be at final year of their B.A. studies or obtaining their M.A. degree in political science, sociology, criminal justice, European Studies or EU Law-related disciplines. Ph.D. students might only be accepted in exceptional cases.

FEES/CREDITS

The working language is English and participation is equal to 6 ECTS credits. Participation fee is €50 and includes accommodation, lodging and tuition. The number of seats is limited.

The North Caucasus Federal University will provide travel information and advice and prepare visa invitations for the students who need visa to Russian Federation.

HOW TO APPLY

To apply for the school, please send your CV and an essay in English (max 2000 words) until December 15, 2016 to Ms Anna Avanesova (annavanesova@yandex.ru). The topic of the essay is "Anti-corruption: breaking from the past, in search of new approaches?". Applicants who will need to obtain visa to Russia, are also asked to submit a passport scan alongside with other documents.
