Dublin Institute of Technology Fiosraigh Scholarship Programme

Dublin Institute of Technology is delighted to announce the Second Round of applications for Fiosraigh Scholarship Programme 2015. 

The Irish word Fiosraigh, which means to explore or inquire, underlines the purpose of this scholarship programme which is to promote the exploration and application of knowledge.

The Fiosraigh Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and research proposals should be aligned with the DIT Research Thematic areas:

  • Environment, Energy & Health
  • Information, Communications and Media Technologies
  • New Materials and Devices
  • Society, Culture and Enterprise

Fiosraigh Dean of Graduate Research School Award

The DIT Fiosraigh Dean of Graduate Research School Award recognises the outstanding achievements of individual students and is open to talented students who wish to pursue a PhD on a Full Time basis.  Applications are invited from students of any higher education institution, in Ireland or internationally.

Applicants should develop their research in liaison with the potential supervisor/supervisory team in one of the following research thematic areas:

  • Environment, Energy & Health
  • Information, Communications and Media Technologies
  • New Materials and Devices
  • Society, Culture and Enterprise

All applications to undertake graduate research must be submitted using the Dean of Graduate Research School Award Application Form and must have  the support of a potential supervisor. The completed Application Form should be saved in PDF format and emailed to fiosraigh@dit.ie by 12 noon, GMT, November 16th 2015 with subject line "Application for Fiosraigh 2015".

Fiosraigh First Time Supervisor Award

The DIT Fiosraigh – First Time Supervisor Award is an initiative dedicated to DIT staff who are new to PhD supervision.  The purpose of the award scheme is to encourage Dublin Institute of Technology academic staff to become involved in PhD student supervision and contribute to the Institute's research mission.

Applications are invited from all full-time and pro-rata staff who are new to PhD supervision,  i.e. have not previously or are not currently supervising a PhD student. Staff must hold a PhD qualification and have a contract of employment with DIT that extends beyond the proposed thesis submission date (February 2020 approx.). Each award will provide a scholarship to support a full-time PhD student and include a stipend of €16,000 and €2,000 for project costs, for each of the four years.
