Society for Renaissance Studies 8th Biennial Conference

The SRS Conference is an interdisciplinary event for scholars working on the period c. 1400-1700. Areas of study represented at previous conferences include archeaology, architecture, history of art, history, history of science and medicine, literature, music and philosophy.
The conference committee encourages proposals for panels (90 minutes, including discussion) as well as individual proposals (20 minutes); we particularly welcome panels which are interdisciplinary in scope.
Panels and papers should enage with one of the following themes:
- The natural world
- Frontiers, identity, exchange
- Power, protest and resistance
- Knowledge, truth and expertise
- Civil and uncivil discourse
- Ornament and display, performance and perception
The conference will also feature an open strand for papers which engage with themes other than those suggested.
Proposals (max 400 words) are welcom from both postgraduates and established scholars. They should be sent by 1 September 2017 to srs2018@sheffield.ac.uk. In your submission, please indicate which theme or themes are most relevant to your panel/paper.
