The Psi Chi Undergraduate Scholarships help defray the direct educational costs (e.g., tuition, institutional fees, required textbooks) of exceptional Psi Chi undergraduate students.

Budget Award
Eight scholarships of $3,000 each are awarded annually for a total of $24,000.

Who’s Eligible
Students who are currently or will be enrolled in a psychology program for the upcoming fall semester. Applicants must be a Psi Chi member and have a demonstrated financial need.

Application Requirements
Apply online by submitting your resume, transcript, personal financial information, and letter of recommendation from your Psi Chi faculty advisor. You’ll also need to include two essays—one expressing your financial need and the other describing your past, present, and future contributions to the field. You’re not required to include your financial aid package or documentation of your tuition, however not doing so could lower your chances of being selected.

Criteria
Psi Chi Undergraduate Scholarship recipients are chosen based on Psi Chi activity, personal qualities consistent with Psi Chi's Mission, financial need, and academic excellence.

Submission Elements

  1. Your Psi Chi ID number
  2. Your curriculum vitae which should include any and all Psi Chi involvement and activities, on campus or elsewhere.
  3. Your current official or unofficial transcript. 
  4. Personal financial information. 
  5. Cost of tuition documentation for the upcoming fall semester.
  6. Your most recent financial aid award letter or package from your institution which should show the financial support for which you were offered, ineligible, accepted, or declined, preferably showing information pertaining to the upcoming fall semester.
  7. A financial need essay (up to 500 words) should describe your financial need situation. 
  8. A personal essay (up to 1,500 words) that describes your past, current, and future involvement in the science and application of psychology on campus and elsewhere, academic achievements, and leadership activities, especially those related to Psi Chi.
  9. A personal letter of recommendation from your Psi Chi chapter faculty advisor which should comment on your personal qualities as compared to Psi Chi's Mission as well as your Psi Chi chapter involvement.
