The Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Embassy Kenya of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a project focused on promoting U.S. higher education opportunities for high-achieving, financially disadvantaged Kenyan students.

Participants and Audiences
The participants are Kenyan EducationUSA scholars, selected by the EducationUSA adviser grantee and the US Embassy Education Outreach Coordinator.
EducationUSA scholars are highly qualified students who are likely to be awarded full financial aid from U.S. colleges and universities but lack the financial resources to cover the up-front costs.

Funding Information
Length of performance period: 12 months
Number of awards anticipated: 2 Awards from 2 Funding Streams to 1 Recipient
Award amounts: $60,000 (pending availability of funds)
Total expected funding: $60,000 (pending availability of funds)
Type of expected funding:  FY2022 ECA and Public Diplomacy Funds (Fulbright Hays and Smith Mundt)
Anticipated program start date:  July 1, 2022

Eligibility Criteria
The following Kenyan organizations are eligible to apply:

  • Not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations;
  • Public and private educational institutions.
