Language and International Relations

The Faculty of International Relations, Department of Diplomatic Service and Communication at Yerevan State University will hold a conference entitled “Language and International Relations” at Yerevan State University, Yerevan on 15–16 May 2020.

We invite submissions of abstracts for 10-minute oral presentations (+ 5 minutes of Q&A) on any topic of research concerning 

  • use of language in diplomacy

  • relationship between language and culture

  • innovative methods in teaching foreign languages

  • foreign languages and area studies 

Presentations can cover all time periods, regions, and language varieties. Submissions from Early Career Researchers (late-stage doctoral students and post-docs) are particularly encouraged. Abstracts should be written in English, while talks may be presented in Armenian, Russian or English. 

We endeavor to publish the conference papers in a peer-reviewed volume by Yerevan State University. 

Abstracts of no more than one page (pdf format, DIN A4 or US Letter, Times New Roman, 12pt, 2.5cm margin on all sides) including references and diagrams may be submitted electronically to m.mkrtchyan@ysu.am no later than 12.00 pm GMT on Friday, 13 March 2020. Submissions will be evaluated and speakers notified by 29 March 2020.
