European Summer School on Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine

The summer school has been running since 2005It provides intensive training in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine with emphasis on critical analysis.

Field-leading scientists provide a week-long programme of lectures and discussion groups in a rigorous, but open and interactive format.

Additional sessions cover ethics, public engagement/science communication and entrepreneurship.

This course is aimed at PhD students and post-docs and provides a unique opportunity to build and expand your network of peers.”

You will be required to upload a CV in PDF format and also a statement from your Supervisor/Group Leader which explains why they think you are suitable to attend this course.

Deadline for applications 31st March 2019 at 17:00 UK time.

There are 75 places available on this course and it is a competitive application process. 

Applicants will be notified whether or not they have been successful by 30th April 2019. 

Successful applicants will then be asked to pay the registration fee and upload additional details such as poster abstracts etc by 20th May 2019.

Travel and Acccommodation

The summers school is held on the beautiful island of Hydra in Greece.

Hydra is one of the Saronic islands. Even though it has a good nightlife, it is quiet since cars and motorbikes are not allowed. The main method of transportation are the delightful mules and donkeys, as well as the water taxis.

Hydra town is a lovely place just for strolling around. Many of its buildings date back to the 18th century, and is built around the harbour. Here, you can visit many art galleries, churches and monasteries.

The beaches on Hydra are pebble beaches, and the most popular ones are Molos, Palamida and Kaminia, which are more sandy.

Accommodation is provdied for delegates at hotels and guest houses close to the Bratsera Hotel. Details of the accommodation will be provided shortly before the event. 

Fees & Bursaries

The registration fee for Hydra XIV in 2019 will be £770. The fee includes B&B accommodation, all lectures and course materials and some meals as listed in the programme. Accommodation is provided on a shared-room basis in twin rooms. 
 
FEBS Youth Travel Fund (YTF) Grants
 
The organisers have been granted  €5000 YTF grant to support applicants. Organisers will select YTF grant awardees based on merit (CV, Motivation letter etc.), bearing in mind the eligibility set by FEBS. The eligibility criteria are available on the FEBS website

A FEBS YTF grant may be up to a maximum of €800 per person and is to be used to fully cover the registration fee, including accommodation and meals (or to partially cover the registration fee where the registration fee is greater than €800) and support the travel costs.
 
Eligible applicants need to indicate they are eligible and wish to be considered for a YTF grant at application stage. If they are successful in their application they will be contacted for more information at that stage.
