This site is intended as a resource hub, for those wishing to find out more about Eliot’s work and life, as well as providing news about events, performances and publications of interest to Eliot enthusiasts.

This site has has been selected as “being of lasting research value and worthy of permanent preservation in the Web Archive of the Bodleian Libraries.”

The site is run under the auspices of the T S Eliot Society (UK).

Founded in 2006, the Society exists to:

• Promote the study and appreciation of Eliot’s work.

• Promote events celebrating Eliot’s work.

• Produce a regular newsletter, Exchanges

• Help to arrange the annual TS Eliot Festival at Little Gidding.

• Sustain at Ferrar House, Little Gidding, a facility in which ordinary Eliot enthusiasts can immerse themselves, study, or research and write on Eliot-inspired matters, using the Society’s archive held there.

• Facilitate local meetings of Society members and their friends across the UK.

• Collaborate with Eliot appreciation societies in other countries.

The Society promotes the Annual TS Eliot Lecture, and produces an annual academic Journal.

The Society is young and growing, and needs students and lovers of Eliot to join the Society and assist it in its aims.

The primary focus of the Society is in the United Kingdom, although members from around the world are welcome (there are separate societies in the USA, Korea and Japan). In particular we hope to encourage local branches and local meetings to enable as many members as possible to meet, to celebrate and to promote T S Eliot and his works.

TS Eliot International Summer School 2019 open for registration, October 2018

Held annually in Bloomsbury, London, the 2019 TS Eliot International Summer School is now open for registration here.

From July 6th-14th, the Summer School welcomes to central London all with an interest in the life and work of TS Eliot. It is hosted by the Institute of English Studies of the University of London, which facilitates study and research across the field of English Studies.

The Summer School brings together some of the most distinguished scholars of T.S. Eliot and Modern Literature. This year’s seminar leaders and lecturers are also listed here. It also incorporates walks in London, and visits to Burnt Norton and to Little Gidding (for the Annual TS Eliot Festival). A fuller outline of the programme is here, and details of fees are here.

Places on the Summer School are limited to 100 and will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.

Members of the TS Eliot Society (UK) are entitled to a 25% discount on Summer School fees – please see the Members Area for details.

Applicants are advised to reserve early and to note that places on the Summer School are guaranteed only after we have received your full payment.

Fees

The fee for the T. S. Eliot International Summer School will be £600 for the whole week, which includes the provision of documentary materials, sandwich lunches, coffee/tea breaks, poetry readings, organised coach trips and entrance fees to Little Gidding and Burnt Norton. Please note that the £600 fee does not include accommodation (for which you must make your own arrangements/bookings), evening meals, travel around London, or any other expenses you might incur.

At the end of the application form, you will be directed to a page where you can make your payment.

Payments by cheque

Cheques must be made payable to 'University of London'.  Cheques should be in GB Pounds (£) Sterling and are only acceptable if drawn on a UK bank account. Please enclose a cheque with your completed application form and send to the following address:

Bursary Applications

The School is able to offer full or partial bursaries to deserving applicants who cannot afford to attend otherwise. Undergraduate, post-graduate and art practitioners are eligible to apply. Bursaries cover full or partial fees for the entirety of the School, up to the full fee of £600. We are unfortunately  unable to cover the travel and accommodation expenses of bursary recipients.

The online application form contains a section where we ask for details on why you feel you should be considered for a bursary. The bursary deadline is 1 May. You will receive notification from the Institute once bursary allocations have been made as to whether your application has been successful. 

Please note that, if you are applying for a bursary, you do not have to submit payment with your initial application. Payment can be made after the bursary results are announced.

If you are applying for a bursary, on the application form, please select that you wish to pay by cheque. This will prevent you from being asked for payment now.
