What the Young Leaders Programme is all about
The European Commission is inviting young people from around the world to play an active role in this year’s EDD. Program is looking for 15 extraordinary young people aged 21-26 who can represent the powerful impact that youth are having in the development field. The Young Leaders Programme will consist of a 10-day visit to Brussels, where Young Leaders will meet EU experts, stakeholders and play a leading role in the EDD Programme, which will include speaking in various session alongside global leaders.
Being member of the EDD Community gives you the possibility to:
- Be up-to-date with all the latest news about the EDD;
- Register for the Community Meetings;
- Submit a session proposal;
- Register for EDD 2018.
Please note that Young Leaders are expected to have a minimum level of intermediate English (Level B2 in the “Common European Framework of References for Languages”). Young Leaders might be asked to prove their level of English in a Skype conversation with the EDD Youth Team.
The 15 selected Young Leaders will have a place to speak at the highest-level debates at EDD 2018, alongside VIPs and key decision makers. Though this experience is rewarding, as it gives youth participants a voice on the same level as high-level speakers, allocated time of speech on the panel can be limited. Thus, EDD encourages Young Leaders who come to EDD 2018 to participate in other sessions, including debate sessions or brainstormings, where they will be given more space to express their opinions and share their experiences. Please read the community guide onwebsite for more information about sessions at EDD 2018.
It is important that the Young Leaders invited to come and speak at EDD 2018 represent other youth, and don’t only speak in their name only. EDD is looking for candidates who have proven leadership in projects, organisations, initiatives and who are able to represent other youth at the forum.
